Welcome to Gaia Massage & Yoga. I am excited to share my passion of holistic health and wellness with my home state of Wisconsin. I currently provide my services out of the Wausau Wellness Center at 512 S 17th in Wausau, WI and limited hours in Stevens Point as well. I have a couple spots left to take on new clients. I am currently scheduling out about four weeks. I am so grateful that my business here has taken off so quickly. The years of experience attending to people and their bodies, minds and spirits shines through with the work I do. I look forward to guiding you towards better holistic health.
Sarah also runs a second business Empowered Collaborators, LLC to enhance global holistic health. Please visit our website to learn more and to make angel investments and generous donations.
I primarily work with clients who have chronic pain, challenging diagnoses, digestive problems, headaches and injuries. Massage Therapy and other Bodywork are medical treatments that may down-regulate your nervous system, improve digestion, encourage better sleep, decrease pain and aid in stress management. I share patients with local doctors, TMJ specialists and psychologists. I would encourage you to take responsibility for the lifestyle factors that may be adding to your pain levels, such as negative thought patterns and attitudes, inflammatory, processed non- foods and lack of movement. If you only want me to be a temporary fix for pain symptom management, it probably won't give you the lasting results you crave. I can help you, but ultimately you must make changes in your life to help yourself.
Finding balance in our lives is crucial to our overall health. Creating harmony between work, family and home is necessary in order to become the person you are meant to be. Living busy lives we compromise our health, well-being, time and energy. Some feel guilty when they want to do anything for themselves. I firmly believe that Self Care IS Health Care. We all need times of quiet and calm, whether that’s a neighborhood walk, reading or writing, connecting with a friend over tea, knitting or a long bike ride; we must nourish ourselves and find ways to refill our cup. We don’t serve anyone by becoming depleted, overwhelmed and stressed out. What can you do on a regular basis to nourish and comfort you? What are you passionate about? You must find ways to explore and express your creativity, your passions and your dreams. This is crucial to holistic health. Alignment yoga and meditation practices teach us three fundamentals about our body and life: 1) Get grounded and stay in present time. 2) Soften the roof of the mouth, 3) keep breathing and attend to the exhalation. These simple, yet complex instructions are the key to letting stress and trauma go. We can grow bitter, or we can get better. This is and always will be, a personal choice.
Our bodies are designed to move! Join us at an integrative yoga class, blending Alignment Yoga, Meditation, Mat Pilates and Holistic self-care techniques to relax the nervous system, strengthen the core and to fully inhabit your body. Learn time tested techniques to manage stress, discomfort and decrease anxiety. I hold a current E-RYT 500 status through Yoga Alliance, which requires a minimum of 500 hours of training and 2000 teaching hours.
People often ask me, "Do you do yoga all the time?" My response is a resounding NO. I love to hike. That is my favorite form of movement. Along with riding my bike, getting out on the kayak, exploring the woods through backcountry camping, snowshoeing or on skis. Are you interested in taking your fitness to the next level? Join us on a group hike around the state and learn about stress management. In order for tight, stuck muscles to do something else, they have to be retrained. This might simply mean going for a short walk after dinner instead of watching the nightly news. Or sitting on the floor and playing with the kids. Keep moving, or suffer the consequences.

Most clients receive an integrative massage. This is a therapeutic massage that may combine several styles of therapeutic massage/bodywork: such as Myofascial Release, Swedish, Deep Tissue, the use of essential oils, Neuromuscular Therapy, Acupressure, Reiki and more. Depending on how the tissues are responding, additional tools may be used such as silicon cups, stainless steel or jade gua sha scrapers, hot stones, moist heat or ice. The goal of Integrative Massage is to melt away soft tissue tension and increase the blood, lymph and energy flow while down-regulating the nervous system. Integrative Massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins and hypertonicity, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body.
I have studied a variety of Western and Oriental techniques in my quest to understand the body and what it means to inhabit this human body. Check out the some of the styles I offer by clicking over my services page below.

1) Gaia Massage & Yoga, LLC requires that a 24 hour notice is required to cancel an appointment. If you cancel your appointment in less than 24 hours, you may be charged for 50% of the time reserved. If you do not show up for an appointment you will be charged for 100% of the scheduled appointment. Returned check fee is $25.00. This is because I can only do a handful of massages a day and I too have bills to pay.
2) Please understand that the massage/bodywork/energy work/yoga instruction/etc you receive is provided for the basic purpose of relaxation and relief of muscular tensions. If you experience any pain or discomfort during this or any future sessions, immediately inform the Massage Therapist/Yoga Teacher so that the pressure, strokes or poses may be adjusted to your level of comfort. Because massage/bodywork should not be performed under certain medical conditions, affirm that you have stated all known medical conditions on intake form and answered all questions honestly. If you have been told by a physician or health care provider that massage may make your known condition(s) worse, please reconsider exploring business with us. Understand that massage therapists do not diagnose or treat disease and that any care or recommendation you receive in this clinic or from any massage therapist is not a substitute for a physician’s care. Take responsibility for alerting your therapist/teacher of any changes to your health status, medications and therapies before the session, as well as any and all responses perceived to be a result of services as soon as you become aware of them.
3) Understand that NO sexual activity, comment or innuendo will be tolerated and will result in immediate termination of the session and full payment required of the scheduled appointment. Anyone who breaks this policy will be reported to the local police and banned from our business. If you act creepy and sexualize the session, 911 will be called and police will be alerted to your behavior.
