I am passionate about bodywork, movement and balanced living.
Hi, my name is Sarah Roeder. I have been practicing bodywork for nearly twenty years and teaching yoga for thirteen. Whether you want to simply relax to de-stress or if you have chronic pain, I am here to help you. I would love to work with you to decrease your stress and pain levels, increase your quality of movement, better your posture and quiet your mind. I love all kinds of movement and believe we are at our best when we challenge our bodies in a variety of settings.
The Nuts and Bolts of My Training:
I received my formal bodywork training at Starfire Massage School & Healing Center in Missoula, Montana in 1999-2000. I have been Nationally Board Certified in Massage Therapy & Bodywork since 2001 and hold a current Montana License. I have worked on thousands of bodies of all shapes and sizes.
I was introduced to Hatha Yoga back in 1995 and was immediately hooked. In 2005, I completed my first 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat in Rollinsville, Colorado. In 2010, thirsting for more knowledge, I completed my second 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training through Alignment Yoga in Madison, Wisconsin studying under Scott Anderson. I graduated from his 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2012 . I am a Registered Experienced Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. I have clocked over 2000 hours of teaching public classes and private lessons.
In 2010 I graduated from the Spiritual Deepening for Global Transformations three-year certificate program through The Christine Center in Willard, Wisconsin. Their program focuses on the Art of Contemplation, the Mind-Body Connection and through Spiritual Leadership.
Each year I exceed the required continued educational hours to uphold my license and certificates. I believe your healing improves as I learn more techniques, increasing my anatomical knowledge and palpatory skills.
I believe that healing can be a sacred journey.
Some Information About The Healing Process:
Our thoughts, emotions, habits and belief systems influence our physical and energetic mindbody. I believe that what happens in our personal lives mirror what is happening in the world, each influencing the other. When we learn how to slow down, be more attentive and present, and become more grounded we can influence our local and global communities.
My style of massage is a blend of myofascial release, Swedish, deep tissue and Oriental techniques. I believe in coaxing the soft tissue to let go rather than the conquer and destroy approach. I like to start with medium pressure and work my way into deeper layers of muscle and fascia. The rhythmic techniques from Swedish massage invite the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to come forth and allows the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) to settle down.
I named my company after the Greek goddess of the Earth, Gaia, the mother of all creation. I have always felt a deep connection with Nature. I have found my most authentic self in the forest, on top of the mountain and in the field. My intention is to aid in the healing of our planet and all its inhabitants through healing services and yoga classes. As more of us learn to slow down, relax, breathe, meditate or pray, we can influence healing our planet and each other. I encourage my clients to get outside to play and explore. Our bodies react to our environments and the more often we can get outside, the easier it becomes to recharge and release tension.
